Guests visit Villa Vayana all through the year. In Bali there is a wet season (November to March) and a dry season (April to October). The dry season clearly has less rain, but even in the wet season it seldom rains for more than a few hours in a day, and there are still many days it does not rain at all. On the plus side in the wet season the scenery is incredibly lush and green, and sitting cosily in a warm bath inside Villa Vayana while watching the rain cascade down outside is an amazing experience.
For surfers, although dry season tends to be the "high" season, reality is that there is good surfing at Canggu and other Bali sites all year round.
Children are welcome at Villa Vayana. We have all facilities needed for infants (such as high chairs and cots) and also provide a free babysitting service (on request and at extra charges) and kids meals upon request. Please be aware however that the pool is fairly deep (1.20m) and that there are no fences or other restrictions around the pool or the pond, so small children need to be watched carefully. We can also arranged a pool fence at Villa Vayana, and there will be an additional charge for this (please contact us in advance for arrangement).
Villa Vayana is situated in a pleasant green area with lovely rice field views and small villages close to Echo Beach. Temperature is pretty constant in Bali, all year, but it does get humid in the wet season. There is though air-con in all the bedrooms at Villa Vayana, and the high ceilings and layout of the villa mean there are usually pleasant through drafts all year round through the main living area of the villa. Alternatively there is also air-conditioning in the lounge and kitchen as well, and so it is no problem to close all the doors and turn it on if you prefer.
Villa Vayana is less than 10 minutes walk from the shops, bars and restaurants (and surfing) of Echo Beach, and about 20 minutes from Canggu Club /Canggu Deli. Seminyak is another 10 minutes further on. Basically Villa Vayana is in a great location to kickback and relax, but if you want it the lights and nights out of Seminyak are easily reachable by taxi or motorbike any time that you want. The manager of the villa is happy to arrange taxis for you (this is part of the service, and we and our managers take no commission to help you out), or alternatively we are also happy to arrange hire cars, bikes or other means of transport if you prefer.
Villa Vayana is relatively accessible for elderly guests. All rooms are on the same floor, but there are a couple of steps to get from the villa to the pool area, and then there are a few steps from the pool area down to the parking area, meaning Villa Vayana is not really suitable for wheelchair users.
Villa Vayana is an exceptionally secure villa. Not only is it surrounded by a 3m high wall ensuring complete privacy, but it has a dedicated team of 6 security guards that are almost always constantly on patrol around the villa, and stay close to the entrance to the shared parking area with the neighbouring villa. Under normal circumstances security is not a concern in Bali. The Balinese people are Hindu, and are honest and peaceable. Crime is minimal and the overwhelming majority of tourists that visit Bali have a wonderful time and never have any security concerns at all.
Bali lies about 2.5 hours flight away from Singapore or the same from Perth in Australia. The capital of Bali is Denpasar, and there are many flights to Denpasar (DPS) from Australia, most European cities, the US West Coast and Japan primarily via Singapore, Hong Kong and Guam (from the US). Several large carriers fly to Bali such as Garuda, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, KLM as well many other large european carriers also fly to Bali. Direct flights from cities in Asia and Australia to Bali are increasingly easy and cheap thanks to the arrival of a number of budget airlines such as Air Asia (Malaysia and Thailand), Valuair (Singapore) and Jetstar & Virgin (Australia & New Zealand). Further afield there are even direct flights from Moscow (with Transaero) and from Japan (with Jalways). Most tickets can be booked over the internet without a problem.
Visas are available on arrival for almost all Western and Asian nationals for free now (although some nationalities still require visas in advance or have to pay for "Visa on Arrival" so please check before you arrive in Bali the website to check is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Indonesia. Bali airport is new and a joy to go through these days, and so there is no need for any special arrangements. There are ATMs and Bureau de Change on the way out of the arrivals hall, as well as a selection of Duty Free shops with very over-priced wine, beer and spirits.
Once you exit customs, the driver from Villa Vayana will be there waiting for you with a sign (if you have arranged an airport transfer through us) and will take you to your vehicle and help you with your luggage.
The local currency is Indonesian Rupiah. There are cash points all over Bali now, and also at the airport as well so it is easy to withdraw cash Rupiah when you need it. If you are bringing cash, most major currencies are accepted, but the best exchange rates are for cash USD and to a lesser extent cash AUD. There are unscrupulous cash dealers in Bali, and the golden rule is that if a rate looks far too good there probably is a good reason for that. Best and safest way to get cash though is to withdraw it from a cash point or to use credit cards that are widely accepted as well. At Villa Vayana however we are only able to accept payment in cash Rupiah.

From Denpasar (Bali) Airport follow the signs to Denpasar and Sanur (not Kuta) this will take you onto a dual carriageway bypassing Kuta and heading north. Take the underpass at the Simpang Siur statue and intersection onto Sunset Road, the large dual carriage way going to Seminyak. Follow this road to the end, and turn right with all the other traffic onto Jalan Kerobokan. Keep following this road, until you see a sign off to the left to Canggu. Follow this road for a couple of miles, until it meets a larger road, where you turn left. This is the main road to Canggu. Follow this road past the turn offs to Canggu Club and Echo Beach, until you see a road to the left across the rice fields with a large sign with a number of sign posts on it, including one to Villa Vayana. Now it is just a case of taking this road to the end, where another Villa Vayana signpost will direct you to the left. Follow this road and take the second road on the left where there is another sign post. Follow this road, and take the next road on the left (another sign post) and then follow this small road to the end, bearing left at the temple. Villa Vayana is clearly signposted the whole way, however it is still a good idea to call our manager before you arrive so the staff are ready to greet you when you arrive.
